Alexandra Butler

A Butler

I joined The Willows Primary School as Executive Headteacher in in November 2009.  I am now in my eleventh year of headship in West Berkshire, initially being Headteacher of Hampstead Norreys in 2006 and then leading the two schools alongside each other between 2009 and 2014.  During 2014-2015 I enjoyed a mini sabbatical to investigate education in North America and in September 2015 I took on the headship of Lambourn CE Primary School in addition to The Willows. So my headship experience includes working at both ends of the Ofsted spectrum, leading both rural and urban schools and also leading both church and community schools.
Prior to headship I was a teacher in Slough and following university, where I studied music, I worked in Japan for a few years.  I have tried to keep learning whilst working in education and have an MA in Effective Learning and an MBA.  I am a National Leader of Education, which means I support other schools and headteachers and also inspect for Ofsted.

As part of my work I lead West Berkshire Training Partnership, an organisation which trains graduates to teach in a year ‘on the job’.  This is based at The Willows and trains approximately 25 graduates every year.
I sit as a trustee on a number of charities and educational boards in the South East, including the National Association of Able Children in Education, The Temple Grove Schools Trust and the Haberdashers’ Askes Academy Federation.
In my spare time I love to travel, cook, listen and play music and enjoy the arts.
