Admission Information

Little Hooters Pre-School

Little Hooters is our school led on site pre-school for young children. We admit children after their 2nd birthday. All sessions are chargeable at £11 (£4 extra for the lunch club) unless your child is eligible for the vulnerable 2 year old grant.

Admissions are handled by the school. We currently have places for children who will be 3 before Christmas and we are holding a waiting list for slightly younger children.

School Nursery

Our school nursery caters for children between the ages of 3 and 5. Children can attend our nursery from the school term after their 3rd birthday. There are 2 nursery sessions per day. The morning session is for children who will be entering reception class the following September. The afternoon class normally opens from January to July each year and caters for younger children who are just 3 but whom would not come to school the following year (up to 18 months later).

Nursery class admissions are handled by the school.

Current West Berkshire policy does not guarantee a nursery child an automatic place in reception.

Main School (from reception class to Year 6)

All school admissions are handled by the admissions team at West Berkshire Council. Children with 5th birthdays falling between September 1st and the following August 31st will be admitted full time at the beginning of the Autumn term to reception class.

Admissions forms for entry to reception are normally available from West Berkshire Council between November and January each year. School places are published at the beginning of April. All new reception children are offered a programme of several induction visits in June and July.

Admissions to the school at other times of the year, known as in-year admissions, are also handled by West Berkshire Council on a needs basis for children who move area or wish to move schools. Places are given according to availability. It is worth contacting the Council regarding availability before completing forms.

Prospective parents and their children are always welcome to come and visit our busy school in action. Please contact the school office to book an appointment. We can accommodate visitors most days at 9.30am or 1.30pm. However, during the peak reception admission period (November to Janaury) we publish a series of open visits to cope with volume.
